Microsoft Edge is built on Chromium, so viewing source works almost exactly like Chrome. Here are the ways to do it on desktop and mobile.
Method 1: Keyboard shortcut
| Platform | Shortcut |
|---|---|
| Windows / Linux | Ctrl + U |
| macOS | Cmd + Option + U |
Edge opens a new tab with the page’s raw HTML and view-source: in the address bar.
Method 2: Right-click → View Page Source
Right-click an empty part of the page and choose View page source. (Right-clicking an image or link shows a different menu, so aim for blank background.)
Method 3: The view-source: prefix
Type the URL with the prefix in the address bar:
view-source:https://example.com
Edge loads the source instead of rendering the page — handy for bookmarking a source view.
Method 4: Developer Tools
Press F12 (or Settings and more ⋯ → More tools → Developer tools) to open DevTools. The Elements tab shows the live DOM, and the Network tab’s document response shows the raw HTML. Remember the live DOM can differ from the original source — see View Source vs Inspect Element.
View source in Edge on mobile
Edge for Android and iOS has no right-click or keyboard shortcut. Try the view-source: prefix in the address bar, and if that isn’t supported on your version, paste the URL into ViewSource.net — it works in any mobile browser and shows the source with syntax highlighting, copy, and download.
